Inkwareny Artists of Yuelamu

Inkwareny needed a full identity and an ecommerce store that carries the stories of Yuelamu, with SAM keeping the catalogue honest.

Inkwareny Artists is the art centre of Yuelamu, a remote Anmatyerr community in Central Australia. Artists paint and craft the songlines, country and dreaming stories of their people, with provenance, identity and storytelling at the heart of every piece.

The brief was end-to-end: a new logo and brand identity, a website that does the work justice, and a fully integrated ecommerce store powered by Defyn’s SAM plugin (samplugin.com) so the catalogue, artists and provenance flow from SAM straight into the storefront without manual data entry.

We started at the brand: a logo and visual identity grounded in country, language and the warm earth palette of Yuelamu. From there we designed a website that lets the artwork lead, with editorial pages for artist stories, clear shop navigation, and a checkout that feels considered rather than transactional.

Under the bonnet, the ecommerce store is wired into SAM via Defyn’s own SAM plugin (samplugin.com). Every artwork, artist record, photograph, story and price flows from SAM into the store automatically, so the art centre team manages the collection in one place and the website always reflects what is actually available.

The site is engineered for performance and credibility: lean code, image optimisation, accessible markup, schema for products and artists, and structured data so Inkwareny’s work is found and represented properly in search.
