Why we built it
Regular Business Profile posts help a local listing, and almost nobody keeps them up because it means logging into Google, writing a caption, finding an image and pasting a link every few days. You already do that work when you publish on your website. This plugin reuses it.
Publish once, post everywhere that matters
When a post goes live, it joins the queue automatically. Filter by post type and category so only the right content goes to Google.
A schedule that looks human
Set time of day slots or a cooldown between posts, skip weekends, and the queue drip feeds your listing instead of dumping ten posts at once.
Links you can measure

Two ways to run it
Auto-publish
Connect your Google account once through the official Business Profile API. When a scheduled slot arrives, the plugin publishes the post to your listing's Updates feed by itself. This needs a free Google Cloud project; the settings screen shows every step.
Semi-manual, no API
Skip the Google setup. The plugin prepares the caption, image and tracked link, and when a slot is ready it opens Google Business Profile with everything staged. You press Publish. Nothing leaves your server.
What it needs
- WordPress 6.2 or newer, PHP 7.4 or newer. Tested up to WordPress 7.0.
- A Google Business Profile you manage.
- For auto-publish: a free Google Cloud project with the Business Profile APIs enabled and OAuth credentials, entered once and stored encrypted with AES-256 on your site.
What it sends to Google
Caption text, the featured image URL, the call to action and link, and the post language. Only in auto-publish mode, and only when a slot fires. Nothing is sent to Defyn.

Is it really free?
Yes. GMB Poster is a free plugin on WordPress.org with no paid tier. Defyn built it for our own clients and maintains it. If you want us to set it up or run your local SEO, that is a separate service.
What do I need to set it up?
A WordPress site on 6.2 or newer with PHP 7.4 or newer, a Google Business Profile you manage, and about 20 minutes. Auto-publishing uses Google's official Business Profile API, which means creating a free Google Cloud project and OAuth credentials for your own site. The settings screen walks you through every step with the exact values to paste.
Do I have to use the Google API?
No. There is a semi-manual mode that skips the Google Cloud setup entirely. The plugin prepares the caption, image and tracked link, and you publish it inside Google Business Profile with one click. Nothing is sent to Google in that mode.
How does scheduling work?
Choose fixed time of day slots, or a cooldown of a set number of hours between posts, and optionally skip weekends. New posts are queued automatically when you publish them, filtered by post type and category, and the queue shows every item as pending, ready, prepared, posted, skipped or failed.
What gets sent to Google?
Only what a Business Profile post needs: the caption, the featured image URL, the call to action text and link, and the post language. Your OAuth credentials are stored encrypted on your own server with AES-256 and are never sent to Defyn.
Does it handle more than one location?
You connect one Google account and choose the Business Profile location to post to. Multi-location businesses can run the plugin on each location's site, or talk to us about a managed setup.
Why post to Google Business Profile at all?
Profile posts keep your listing active, give Google fresh signals about what you do, and put an image and a link in front of people who find you on Maps. Most businesses stop after the first month because it is manual. This plugin removes the manual part.
